You'll worry less what other people think of you when you realize how seldom they do.

if he had had to create a bumper sticker to model his philosophy of life after, it may have been something to this effect:

There is an "aha!" moment he remembers here. As much as he liked to pretend he did not worry about what people thought, he certainly did, in fact, worry. All of this worrying was very introspective, very unproductive and very tiring. He slowly came to realize that the majority of people shared this self concern as well as varying degrees of anxiety surrounding it.

This anxiety, he found, came from a sort of meta-misconception. People mostly fail to realize that most people are too busy thinking about themselves to actively judge other people. Most people fail to realize that their blemishes are invisible on a cursory glance (which is all most people will give them).

Of course, he never much cared for bumper stickers and was not particularly concerned with what people thought about his philosophy-- they had their own bumper stickers to worry about.

  1. WOW this is deep very well thought out>> I LOVE IT! We do place bumperstickers on ourselves when you think about it. Also tend to judge people real quick. Nice way with words.

  2. Your essay is very true. Many people are obsessed with how others will view them and spend all of their time focusing on that, while other people are more caught up in themselves than others.

  3. Maybe you should consider publishing your bumper sticker. (jk) Your aspect is very true as the majority of everyone do analyze themselves too much that they forget that mist people around them don't even care that much. Very deep thinking but put in a simple phrase; I like it. :o)

  4. whoa!! I really enjoyed your bumper sticker. If was very original and put together. I most definity agree with your philosiphy it made me think a little bit deeper than what you were saying. Maybe if people really stop worrying about what others think of them then life would probly have alot less conflict. You should really consider telling others about your opinion because you could honestly give someone some good advice.

  5. This bumper sticker is well thought out. You really opened peoples eyes to the fact that everyones always to worried about what other people think about them rather then themselves and how they put a bumper sticker on themselves. Very nice job!

  6. Interesting perspective. I agree with you that we do worry too much about what people think of us. It infatuates our culture and makes us consumed on our looks and outward appearance. On a different note, I think we should be aware of how we act. Appearance is fleeting, but our actions show who we are inside of us. We should be free to express that, but also to be guarded as to how we act. We should be aware and be careful of our actions, but not consumed with fear that we might do something wrong. Great article.
